Who we are

Scott Cooksey | Owner

Hello! Its your mom’s favorite potter, Scott. I have been getting my hands dirty for about 18 years and am excited to share my love of clay with you. I have been a resident pottery in different studios, but bringing this studio to life is a dream I have had for many years. I am so grateful for the community of New Albany and Southern Indiana.

I focus on functional work like mugs and bowls, but if I see something amazing- I have to give it a try. My goal is to take my expertise and help you create something that you will cherish forever.

I truly believe that so many people need art. With immersive experiences and self-led classes, we hope to connect you to a new community of clay lovers- a collective, if you will.

I’m a firm believer that anyone can participate in and leave their mark through the ancient craft of ceramics and pottery making. As a physically disabled artist, over-coming disadvantages to create beautiful pieces of art, both functional and decorative is where my passion lies. My work, just as all handmade goods, tells a story that can never be imitated by store bought goods.

My first exposure to working with clay was back in 2010 and continued for several years through college with a brief hiatus after having experienced a life altering accident. I was left with a mere 30% usage of my left hand. My life’s tether to pottery began again through rehabilitation. Having to relearn the art and my own body’s limitations, I’ve been led down the path that’s shaped and molded me to be a career potter.

I believe anyone can be a successful artist, no matter the avenues life takes them down. I’m excited to help pave the way for new artists or to repair those roads for folks who have has some experience and are returning to working with clay- seeking to hone their craft even further. I’m looking forward to playing in the mud with you!
